Cancellation Policy

This 3-hour workshop provides an introduction/refresher for both the inexperienced and experienced clinician with commonly used suture techniques in both in- and out-patient settings. Experienced instructors focus on 4 widely used surgical techniques (interrupted, running, vertical, and horizontal mattress) and address technical concerns which fall within the Physician Associate's scope of practice.

This 3-hour workshop is designed to provide a framework in which the Physician Associate can determine if a wound is suitable for primary closure based on several clinical factors. Experienced instructors will assist by demonstrating various surgical techniques that will ensure safe and correct primary closure. In addition, the accepted protocol for wound care and follow up will be reviewed.

Objectives:

  • Assess whether a wound is suitable for primary closure.
  • Differentiate between the types of surgical needles and suture available.
  • Provide their patients with necessary instruction on correct wound care and follow up.

Welcome Students!

We hope you will join us for an event filled with valuable learning opportunities, engaging sessions, and the chance to connect with the greater Michigan PA community. Let's make the most of this enriching (and fun!) experience together. 

Student Track
Students are invited to attend Student Track sessions on Friday, October 11 beginning at 12:55 PM in the Peninsula Room. Additionally, they have the option to attend lectures held in Governors' CD and Tower Ballroom throughout the conference. 

Workshops
Students are invited to attend workshops for an additional $50 fee. A separate registration is required. We are seeking students who are interested in being models for the ultrasound workshops scheduled on Thursday, October 10 in the morning and afternoon. If interested, please contact Julie Frinzi.

Welcome Reception
Students are invited to attend the kick-off welcome reception on Thursday, October 10 from 5:00-700 PM in the Pavilion, weather permitting. (Back up - Michigan Ballroom)

Charity Tables
The 2024 charity is the Hospital Hospitality House of Southwest MI. PA schools may start decorating their donation tables at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 11. Tables are located in the Tower Prefunction space and will be judged at 5:30 PM. 

University Receptions
Mix and mingle with your colleagues and faculty. Receptions will be held on Friday, October 11 from 4:30-6:15 PM. Locations - TBD.
