Suture Workshop

This 3-hour workshop provides an educational opportunity and refresher for practicing PAs and PA students, focusing on the closure of superficial wounds using standard suturing techniques, as demonstrated by experienced clinicians.
Objectives:
- Identify instruments needed to correctly perform primary closure of a superficial wound using accepted surgical techniques.
- Understand the difference between different types of suture material and selection criteria.
- Review proper preparation of a wound for primary closure, maintaining sterility during the procedure, and appropriate dressing and follow-up care.
Ultrasound Workshop #1 FAST & USGPIV
Friday, October 10, 10:15 AM-12:15 PM

This 2-hour course will provide participants with a unique opportunity to develop basic and advanced skills in POC ultrasound, specifically the Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST Exam) and Ultrasound Guided peripheral IV access.
The course has been designed to meet the educational goals for both beginners and those with more advanced skills, using an evidence-based approach and standard ultrasound imaging protocols. You will also have an opportunity to work closely with expert faculty throughout the course.
Objectives:
- Discuss the indications for performing a FAST exam.
- Recognize the key anatomical structures and potential spaces when performing a fast exam.
- Understand basic ultrasound physics and knobology to optimize images when scanning a patient.
Ultrasound Workshop #2 Lung and Aorta
Friday, October 10, 1:30 PM-3:30 PM
Cost: $50 per person

This 2-hour course will focus on Lung Ultrasound and the great vessels: Aorta & IVC. The workshop has been designed to meet the educational goals for both beginners and those with more advanced skills, using an evidence-based approach and standard ultrasound imaging protocols. You will also have an opportunity to work closely with expert faculty throughout the course.
Objectives:
- Discuss indications for imaging the thorax and abdominal aorta.
- Recognize the key anatomical structures and potential spaces when performing a thoracic ultrasound and sonographic landmarks of the abdominal aorta.
- Understand basic ultrasound physics and knobology to optimize images when scanning a patient.
